I See Rowboats
I See Rowboats formed in 2006 when long time friends William Robinson and Luke Fisher reconnected and collaborated to form the band. The duo turned to percussionist Darcy Fraser, multi-instrumentalist Lisa Lipton and multi-instrumentalist Solomon Vromans, and together has established themselves as one of the most exciting new bands in the Atlantic Canadian music scene.
Their debut EP "hide & seek behind the throne" has been called the "striking sound" that will "change Canada's strings-happy indie scene."
The band was voted "Best Local New Artist" in the March 2008 issue of Halifax's weekly, The Coast. Their performances have received huge acclaim in reviews from the music community. The band will be touring through Canada in 2008.
The Mellotones
This nine piece ensemble is Halifax's premier dance band. The lead singer with a saxophone hanging from his neck strap is Jeffery Mosher! His amazing ensemble includes Ian Mosher, Jody Lyne, Brad Conrad, Mike Farrington, Lil Thomas, Eric Landry, Damien Moynihan and Rob Crowell.
For 10 years, the Mellotones have been a staple of the musical diet in Halifax. This group appeals to the young and the young at heart. With a four-piece horn section, and dynamic rhythm section, they perform their classic repertoire of American Soul Music with originality and authenticity. The Mellotones bring energy, talent and charisma to every performance. Any local will tell you, they're the best dance band in town!
Mir
Mir (meer) has risen above the typical standards in the world of today's predictable music to get their sound heard. They continue to raise the bar as they challenge themselves and their listeners. Mir insists their quest is not to stray off the beaten path but rather to forge a new one based on the time-honoured qualities of melody, sincerity and meaning in modern music.
Mir's smooth blend of electronica, pop, and world flavours has landed them on stages and recordings as diverse as OzFest to sharing space on European CD compilations with Sting, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell.
One of the most innovative and melodic new groups to come out of Canada, Mir's unique, challenging, easily identifiable sound makes them stand out clearly against all other pop/rock groups.
